Refuge of the Lord

A refuge is a place where we are safe and sheltered from danger.  The Psalms are full of references describing the Lord as our refuge and protector.  The Lord is also described as protecting us as our shield or shepherd.

"11 But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee. 12 For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield."
Old Testament, Psalms 5:11-12

"9  The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. 10  And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee."
Old Testament, Psalms 9:9-10

"1 In the Lord put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?"
Old Testament, Psalms 11:1

"5  They are in great fear, for God dwells in the generation of the righteous. He is the counsel of the poor, because they are ashamed of the wicked, and flee unto the Lord, for their refuge.  6  They are ashamed of the counsel of the poor because the Lord is his refuge."
Joseph Smith Translation, JST, Psalms 14:5-6

"1 Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust. 5 The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot. 8 I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. 9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope. 10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. 11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore."
Old Testament, Psalms 16:1,5,8-11

"7 Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them. 8 Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,
